It's always better to know and understand what is happening on your Facebook Page than to post irregularly and never know what is your goal with each post. But there's a cure for the chaos. There's nothing easier than to create a strategy and a calendar for social media posts so that all of them lead to the goal that you have in front of you.
There are a couple of things to have in mind while doing this.
Know where you're headed
Firstly, you have to create a strategy, so that you always have a clear view. Each post should have its own small goal that will take you one step forward to the ultimate goal.
To do this, you have to answer 3 questions that will clarify your strategy and then implement it on your social media.
- Why have you created your company/project?
- What is your unique-selling-proposition and why should customers choose you?
- Who is your competition?
When you answer these questions, you can imprint your vision and your tactics in every single post. Easy as that.
How to create a calendar for your posts?
When you are creating a calendar for your posts, firstly, remember to use every type of post (we've talked about this already). Then, you simply pick up the answers to the 3 questions linked to your strategy and think…
How do I need to communicate with my audience in order to reach my goals? What resonates with them?
With this on your mind, you can create a couple of posts for a concrete time period.
You have your calendar now.
That means:
- you can be sure that your social media strategy is aligned with your goal,
- you have a clear view of what's happening,
- if you are working in a team, everyone knows what's going on,
- you can re-use the same content more and maximize its impact and reach.
But you are nowhere near the finish line.
What else should you consider when creating a calendar for social media posts?
Unlike your calendar, the world around you and your industry will be undergoing changes. There will be breaking news, important content and much more.
This is something you can't miss. This is the timely content that Facebook supports heavily and it would only hurt your strategy if you wouldn't use it.
So if you have a calendar for your posts, you still have to add so much more to it. Add new posts, new content, new media. Such a calendar cannot be your guarantee of success. It can only be a great tool for having a clear vision of your strategy. But not more.
You can support your Facebook Page with a calendar, but never become passive. If you do, you will exist on social media but there won't be any real (or growing) engagement on your Page.
Which makes us think. Do you schedule your posts? What software do you use and how do you do it? Let us know and we'll get back to you in the comments section.
